Why a Tech Conference Photographer Is a Different Hire
Because the screen behind the speaker is frequently the most sensitive object in the room, and a photographer who has never worked a technical program will shoot straight at it.
Tech and AI programs put unreleased roadmap, customer logos under NDA, internal metrics, and pre-announcement architecture on stage. What Is On the Screen
Unreleased roadmap, NDA customer logos, internal metrics, and pre-announcement architecture all appear on stage at technical conferences. Therefore restricted sessions get flagged in the run-of-show and the speaker is framed against a clean background rather than the slide.
LED Walls and Moire
Tech programs run high-density LED rather than projection, and those panels alias at certain shutter and distance combinations. Consequently the pairing gets tested during setup, because moire cannot be removed in post.
Dark Rooms, Bright Screens

The single most useful thing a technical program can give a photographer is a marked run-of-show. Which sessions are open, which need the screen kept out of frame, and which are closed entirely. Consequently that takes ten minutes to annotate and saves a legal conversation later.

We field seven photographers and five videographers, each a corporate specialist with a minimum of three years at the studio. Therefore a five-track developer conference gets a crew that has worked together, briefed off one session grid, rather than freelancers assembled for the week.
There is no travel premium anywhere in Southern California. Downtown programs are covered on downtown Los Angeles corporate event photography, and board-level programs on annual meeting photography.
